Greetings, Friends! We hope this letter finds you healthy and happy. As we approach the end of another year, I hope we all can find a minute to give thanks and gratitude for our blessings and for those amazing people in all our lives. This year again proved to be an incredibly busy year with so many things happening in the world and in our personal lives. It has once again left us asking ourselves, “where did the year go”? What’s more, 2019 has shaped up to be a very exciting year for our organization, which is now Rally4Reilly & Friends. So many positive things are happening UPDATES WITH REILLY Reilly has made significant progress since his surgery in Boston. He is experiencing periods where he is off of the ventilator and able to breathe on his own. These periods will hopefully increase with the goal of being off the respirator during the day. This kid still steals the show when he comes into a room! His trademark smile still melts your heart! Kyle, Tammy, and Reilly are so grateful for all of the support and prayers that they have and are still receiving. With all of the love and support we have received, we are moving forward with our goals of continuing to help Reilly and his family, but also help other individuals and families affected by an SCI or any type of paralysis. As we grow, Reilly will always be at the forefront of our organization and our “Ambassador Forever”. We will be adding a video to our website at the end of November 2019 to help raise awareness and promote Rally4Reilly & Friends. UPDATES WITH OUR ORGANIZATION We are in the process of establishing our own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and we hope to have this completed by the third quarter of 2020. In doing so, we will be establishing a Board of Directors to help with the growth of the organization. Despite this development, we remain grateful for the incredible support Bomberos de San Diego has provided to us from the onset. Without them, all this would have not been possible. We will continue to partner with Bomberos and collaboratively help where we can.
Our third annual charity golf tournament was once again a complete success! We had such a positive response and so much support. Our success is a result of everyone who has helped us along the way. Anyone who has touched Rally4Reilly & Friends in any way possible is an integral part of our success and we thank you! We are looking forward to adding more events in 2020 such as Car Shows, Padre Games, Seal’s Lacrosse Games (San Diego’s new Professional Lacrosse team) and more with all net proceeds benefiting Rally4Reilly organization. Our main focus will be on advocating and assisting families and individuals who are SCI survivors and families who may be financially challenged and need assistance. Applicants who might qualify would be people who have no medical insurance or inadequate insurance. Through our Rally4Reilly Scholarship Program, Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) survivors may apply through our website (the program should launch early 2020) and apply for any of the many items listed. Here are a few items that will be available. Standard wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, ADA improvements for the home, voice actuated components for the home such as for faucets, lights, phone, music, etc. bill paying. Here are a few interesting facts about Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI) most people are unaware of: The first year following an SCI, medical bills can exceed $1,000,000; Each subsequent year between $150,000 & $300,000; The average age of an SCI survivor is 43 years of age and 85% are male; Basic daily supplies for hygiene and basic care can cost over $2500 monthly; Pediatric SCI accounts for less than 5% of all SCI; and Over 17,000 new cases of SCI are reported in the US annually including thousands of kids & young adults. Rally4Reilly & Friends is honored and passionate to be advocates for our kids and young adults and those who need our help. We believe in a Servant Leadership approach to our cause. Together we are making a difference in our world, which is so desperately needed. With your help, we give back to those in need. We hope your Holiday Season is amazing and you are able to spend time with your loved ones! On behalf of Reilly and his Family, and SCI survivors everywhere, thank you for your continued love and support! With Sincere Gratitude, Mark Daggett
